Anita says about the iguana series,
“One of the things I like about doing several paintings of
the same subject is that it evolves, each time I can penetrate
more deeply to whatever the meaning is. The iguanas began
to take on very abstract patterns, they crawled into just
the right places on the
canvas, camouflaging themselves in their jungle environment,
but in a disquieting cross position, as if crucified in a
sub-text about vanishing species. The orchids are very detailed,
very much in the foreground.
