If art can sanctify,
then the art of the low rider transforms the car from a symbol
of planetary pollution,
petroleum wars and blind materialism into an object whose
only justification is beauty. You
can’t really use a
low rider - it’s too low ! You would never take
it where a fender could be dented, and you can’t even
leave it out
in the rain. To create one requires skills in the use
of many different expensive and dangerous materials, plus
infinite patience and meticulous craftsmanship.
