La Bufa is the mountain that dominates the city of Guanajuato,
and it is riddled with caves.
There is an annual pilgrimage to one of them, a pre-Columbian
sacred site in continuous use since before the conquest. Legend
has it that in one of the caves there is a miniature maquette
of the city of Guanajuato made of precious gems.
