of popular ballads that glorify heroic bandits, historical and
local events. This painting is a tribute to singers like
Chavela Vargas, Lola Beltran, and Mercedes Castro, to name only
three. The skeleton expresses such passionate emotion
that the cherub at her feet is weeping.
